There are a wide range of wood flooring options for a kitchen, from solid hardwood to engineered wood to kitchen laminate. Unlike a bedroom or living room a kitchen is a wet area so the chosen floor must be moisture resistant. Kitchen floors are faced with spills of all kinds including appliance leaks plus the occasional drop of a dish or utensil while cooking, so a robust choice of floor is essential. When fitting a new wooden floor an expansion gap must be provided to allow for movements caused by seasonal / room humidity, this gap is hidden in mainly 2 ways.
Removal of skirting board, install the new wood floor and refit the original skirting board to hide this expansion gap.
Option 2 is to fit colour coordinating beading which is secured to the existing skirting board and not the floor.

Once the flooring has been fitted around the radiator pipes, the final step is to install colour-coordinated pipe hole covers. These covers are designed to fit snugly around the pipes and blend in seamlessly with the flooring, creating a polished and cohesive look.
